Editing Beyond Borders: Anushri Srinivasan Iyer’s Journey Across Cultures and Cinema

Anushri Iyer at the premiere of her first feature film as Addition Editor. Film title: ‘Where the Wind Blows’ streaming on Amazon Prime VideoNew Delhi [India], April 06 : For Anushri, editing has never been tied to one place. Her journey, from Dubai to Mumbai to Los Angeles — has gradually shaped a practice that moves across languages, genres, and different corners of the film industry. Having edited films in Hindi, English, Mandarin, and Spanish, Anushri Srinivasan Iyer approaches storytelling with a simple belief: emotion doesn’t belong to one language, and the best films don’t need translation to be felt. Anushri’s journey into editing didn’t begin in a film school or on a professional set, but in a classroom in Dubai, where she first opened Adobe Premiere Pro as a high school student. What started as curiosity quickly turned into instinct. That instinct was affirmed early on when she was placed second amongst approximately 45,000 entries in the international CBSE Adobe Creativity Challenge celebrating 150-years of Mahatma Gandhi. She was invited to the Adobe Headquarters in Delhi, and was felicitated by Mr. Shantanu Narayen, The Chairman/CEO of Adobe Inc USA- A moment that marked the beginning of something much bigger. While doing her undergraduate studies at Whistling Woods International, Film City Mumbai, her relationship with storytelling began to take shape — not just technically, but creatively and personally. During this time, she directed and edited the short film Radhika, which went on to win multiple awards, including Best Amateur Film at the Sun of the East International Film Festival, The Goa International film festival and Tagore International Film Festival. Anushri’s work gained recognition with the short film Vijaya Dashami, which was selected among the top 100 short films at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival, Mumbai. Anushri was the Head of the Whistling Woods Earth Charter, where she organized initiatives focused on environmental awareness and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. It was her move to Los Angeles that marked a turning point. At the American Film Institute Conservatory, where she completed her Masters Degree in Film Editing, Anushri Iyer found herself in an environment that pushed her to refine both hercraft and her voice. Working across a wide range of genres — including comedy, thriller, animation, and horror — she began to understand just how much power an editor holds. Her thesis film HIM, screened at the AFI FEST 2025 at the Chinese theater in Hollywood, became a particularly defining project. Anushri’s thesis film ‘HIM’ was selected across various film schools to receive an Amazon Studios AI Grant. Through the grant she explored the various uses of AI in filmmaking. The process changed the way she approached editing, allowing her to better understand the inner lives of characters and guiding her to make choices that felt more deliberate and more intuitive to the story itself. During her time at AFI, she also edited ‘Spectre’ and ‘When the cold wind blows’ which premiered at the Singapore Int Film Festival 2025 and Beyond Fest 2025 Los Angeles 2025. She also volunteered at the SMPTE MTS 2024 and ACE Eddie Awards 2025 and 2026. Anushri Iyer has steadily built her presence within the Hollywood Film industry. She has worked as an Assistant Editor on the feature film The Best Summer, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival which received coverage in major publications such as Variety and Rolling Stone. She also worked as an Assistant Editor on the short film The Window Cleaners, which was part of the For Your Consideration campaign for the Academy Awards. Her work extends across both traditional and digital platforms. As a freelance Assistant Editor for Jubilee Media, she contributed to widely viewed digital content, while continuing to edit independent narrative films in Los Angeles. She also served as an Additional Editor on the feature film Where the Wind Blows, which had a theatrical release and is now available on Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video. Anushri Srinivasan Iyer is an Avid certified professional and is currently working as a Post-Production Assistant at Sony Pictures for a show to be released in 2026 on Apple TV, while also serving as an Assistant Editor on two upcoming feature films set for release — continuing to build a career that moves fluidly between independent and studio spaces. For Anushri, editing isn’t just about assembling footage, it’s about understanding what a moment is really trying to say, and shaping it so it lands honestly with an audience.Anushri’s editing perspective is shaped by her experiences across film industries, cities, and cultures — but grounded in something simple: paying attention to performances, to rhythm and to the small, often invisible choices that ultimately define how a story is experienced. As her learning continues to grow, Anushri remains drawn to stories that feel personal yet resonate widely — stories rooted in emotional truth and human connection. Because at its core, she believes cinema works the same way everywhere—it connects through feeling, not language

Shri Narendra Hirawat, Chairman, NH Studioz with Shri Piyush Goyal, Union Minister of Commerce and IndustryMumbai (Maharashtra) [India] : Following India’s successful conclusion and advancement of landmark Free Trade Agreements with the United Kingdom, the United States, and the European Union, the entertainment industry has expressed deep appreciation for the Government’s leadership in strengthening India’s global trade position. The agreements’ focus on intellectual property protection and digital trade facilitation is expected to open significant new pathways for Indian creative exports.During a high-level consultation chaired by Hon’ble Commerce and Industry Minister Shri Piyush Goyal with Export Promotion Councils and industry bodies, a strategic proposal was formally placed to review India’s copyright framework — including extending the current 60-year protection period for cinematograph films and sound recordings to align with global standards ranging between 70 to 95 years.Representing the entire entertainment sector in his capacity as Council of Administration (COA) Member of the Services Export Promotion Council (SEPC), Mr. Narendra Hirawat, Chairman, NH Studioz, presented the industry’s consolidated position on strengthening intellectual property as a long-term export asset. The consultation focused on leveraging intellectual property-led industries as key drivers of India’s services exports under the new trade frameworks.Hirawat emphasised that in the digital era, films and content libraries are enduring assets that generate recurring foreign exchange through streaming, licensing, remakes and archival monetisation across decades. He noted that India’s current copyright protection of 60 years from publication is lower than major global markets such as:European Union – 70 yearsUnited Kingdom – 70 yearsUnited States – 95 years (for corporate works)Extending the term, he stated, would:• Improve long-term valuation of Indian content libraries• Enhance investor confidence• Strengthen financing potential against content assets• Align India with global intellectual property benchmarks“As global trade agreements expand international opportunities for Indian storytelling, aligning our copyright framework with leading markets will reinforce India’s position as a long-term exporter of creative capital,” said Narendra Hirawat. The consultation underscored the importance of aligning trade policy, intellectual property standards and export strategy to ensure that India’s creative industries fully capitalise on emerging global opportunities.

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], November 28 : Indian creator and songwriter Jake Joss has achieved two global firsts in the field of AI-assisted music and video, marking a significant milestone for independent creativity in the country. By blending personal storytelling with generative technology, he has created two projects that have no prior global equivalent, both completed within the span of a single year. The first achievement is the world’s first fully AI-generated music video where both the song and the visuals were produced using prompt engineering. Titled Daddy, the project began with lyrics Jake wrote himself, inspired by personal memories. He then used AI tools to generate the musical composition and build the entire visual narrative through text-based prompts. Each frame was crafted through written instructions and assembled into a cohesive story, demonstrating a new way of creating music videos without traditional production infrastructure. The India Book of Records has formally recognised him as an IBR Achiever for this feat, noting the uniqueness of Daddy as the first music video created using this method.Building on this, Jake created another global first: the world’s first Human AI collaborative patriotic music album with complete AI-generated music videos for every track. The five-track album, titled Azaadi, explores themes of identity, belonging and contemporary patriotism. Each song is paired with its own AI-generated video, developed through detailed scene-level prompts and structured into five distinct visual narratives. This makes Azaadi the first patriotic album globally where every track has been visually realised through generative AI.Jake’s creative journey has always been rooted in real-life memories and everyday moments that shaped his early musical experiments. Doosra Pyaar, his first song, was written for his daughter. Birdie captured lighthearted childhood humour. His Hindustani fusion piece Eri Aali, created with his daughter, brought together classical influences and modern expression.Another meaningful part of Jake’s evolution is Electric Current. Originally a playful tune he created as a child, it became a small family favourite among his cousins. Years later, with access to generative AI tools, he was finally able to bring the melody to life as a full, high-energy English track. Its revival reflects how AI can help artists revisit old ideas and develop them into complete works. These experiences shaped Jake’s philosophy of combining emotion, curiosity and experimentation. Technology, for him, is not a replacement for human creativity but a means of expanding what a single creator can make without a large team or traditional resources. “My music did not begin with AI. It began with personal memories and moments. AI simply helped me express those feelings differently. The heart remains human. The tool is just new,” he says.Jake’s accomplishments arrive at a time when India is rapidly strengthening its position as a hub for digital creativity, storytelling and technological innovation. As generative AI continues to influence music, film and design worldwide, his work illustrates how independent Indian creators can shape new formats without institutional support or large budgets. It also highlights the possibility that major creative breakthroughs may increasingly emerge from individual innovators rather than large studios. With two world-first achievements completed in less than a year and a growing portfolio that spans personal storytelling, childhood ideas and modern AI-driven experimentation, Jake represents a new wave of Indian creators exploring what becomes possible when imagination and technology work together. His work demonstrates how Indian storytellers can pioneer new creative formats and contribute meaningfully to the global evolution of AI-enabled art.Jake shares his creative work and upcoming releases on Instagram at @original.sing

From the Andes to the Atacama: Chile Beckons as Bollywood’s Next Cinematic Playground

New Delhi [India], November 26 : For decades, Bollywood has chased beauty across the world — from the snow-laden Alps and the tulip fields of Europe to the turquoise coasts of Turkey and Thailand. But as Indian cinema continues to push boundaries, filmmakers are looking for new geographies that feel both cinematic and unexplored.Enter Chile — a South American gem where deserts meet glaciers, where volcanoes stand beside fjords, and where the landscape seems purpose-built for storytelling. The Land Where Every Frame is a SceneStretching across more than 4,200 kilometres of Pacific coastline, Chile’s geography reads like a director’s storyboard. Its slender mainland unfolds a cinematic range — from the world’s driest desert, the Atacama, with its red dunes and alien-like rock formations, to the lush valleys and vineyards of Central Chile, and down to the icy blues of Patagonia, one of the most photogenic corners of the planet. Whether you’re shooting a sci-fi thriller, a sweeping period drama, or a dreamy romantic sequence, Chile offers a visual spectrum that can double for multiple countries — all within one nation. The country’s diverse terrains have already caught the attention of global filmmakers, with productions such as Quantum of Solace, The Motorcycle Diaries, and The 33 filmed on Chilean soil. And now, Bollywood seems to be next in line.Behind this growing appeal lies an institutional effort to connect cultures through cinema. ProChile, the Government of Chile’s Export Promotion Bureau, has been actively promoting creative collaborations between Chile and India, highlighting film, fashion, and food as new pillars of partnership. “Chile isn’t just offering locations — it’s offering creative partnership. We want Indian filmmakers to see Chile as a country that understands storytelling, not just as a backdrop but as a co-creator of visual magic”, shares Trade Commissioner JORGE ANDRES LOYOLA CASTRO.A 35% Incentive to Bring Stories to LifeIt’s not just nature’s canvas that’s attracting attention — it’s the country’s proactive film policy. Through the Fondo de Inversión Audiovisual (Audiovisual Investment Fund), Chile offers financing of up to 35% of locally incurred production costs. This incentive is available to foreign production companies that cover the remaining budget, making it a strong financial motivator for international filmmakers. In addition, the Chilean Congress is in the process of approving new legislation that will include VAT reimbursement for foreign film projects, further reducing the overall cost of shooting in the country. Combined with a skilled local crew base, modern infrastructure, and government support, Chile is positioning itself as one of the most filmmaker-friendly destinations in Latin America. Why Bollywood Should Look SouthBollywood’s visual grammar thrives on scale, drama, and natural beauty — three things Chile has in abundance. The Atacama Desert alone offers backdrops unlike any other location in the world:Mars-like terrains are perfect for futuristic films or music videos. The Andes mountains are ideal for intense, high-altitude storytelling.Coastal cities like Valparaíso, with their colourful houses and steep hills, are ideal for romantic sequences or cultural montages. The southern region of Patagonia is a pristine wilderness made for grand, emotional cinema. Moreover, Chile’s time zone proximity to the U.S. West Coast and its English-speaking production support teams make coordination easier for global studios — an advantage for Indian producers exploring international co-productions and OTT projects. The New Frontier for Indian StorytellingAs Indian cinema evolves beyond borders — from Pathaan in Spain to Tiger 3 in Austria — producers are constantly seeking locations that feel fresh yet globally relevant. Chile fits this perfectly: it’s exotic but accessible, cinematic yet affordable. The combination of stunning natural diversity, government-backed financial incentives, and a welcoming production ecosystem makes Chile a logical next destination for Indian filmmakers ready to explore new visual languages. From Bollywood blockbusters to OTT originals and ad films, Chile offers a landscape that could redefine how India sees and shoots cinema abroad. For more information, please visit: https://www.prochile.gob.cl/en/herramientas/film-commission-at-prochile

Naushad Academy of Hindustani Sangeet Hosts a Mesmerising Flute -Tabla Jugalbandi

  From Left to
Right: Anutosh Degharia, Rehman Naushad, Uttam Singh, Gurmeet Singh and Rakesh
Chaurasia

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], November 24: On 21st November 2025, Naushad Academy of Hindustani Sangeet
presented an evening that felt more like a gentle invocation of the timeless
soul of Indian classical music than a concert. In a world increasingly shaped
by technology, speed, and distraction, the Academy once again illuminated its
purpose - quietly, steadfastly, and with an almost devotional sincerity by
creating a space where purity of sound and depth of tradition could breathe.

The stage belonged to two acclaimed maestros: legendary
flautist Pandit Rakesh Chaurasia and distinguished tabla
virtuoso Anutosh Degharia. Their jugalbandi unfolded like a
conversation between wind and earth - serene, responsive, and alive
with artistic brilliance.

The evening commenced with the flute emerging softly, as
though rising out of silence itself. Each note carried clarity and warmth,
drawing listeners inward. The opening alap unfurled with the tenderness of dawn
stretching across a quiet horizon. Subtle inflexions of breath and tone created
an atmosphere where music felt less like performance and more like emotion
taking form - reminiscent of raindrops meeting the earth - delicate, unhurried,
yet profoundly moving.

When Anutosh Degharia’s tabla entered, it did so with grace
and intentional restraint, offering rhythm not as support but as dialogue.
At times it mirrored the flute’s flow, at times it questioned it, and at
times it lifted it into new textures. Together, the duo demonstrated the
pure essence of jugalbandi - two voices in conversation, co-creating,
responding, and elevating one another.

The recital journeyed through three classical
Raagas, each chosen to evoke its own emotional universe:

Raag Madhuvanti opened
the evening with a sense of peace, evoking the mellow tenderness of late
     afternoon light.
Raag Desh followed,
stirring warmth and nostalgia, its phrases reminiscent of monsoons,
homeland, and centuries of living tradition.
The programme concluded
with Raag Bhairavi, a meditative finale that offered closure - not through
     silence, but through serenity.

A highlight of the performance was an improvised rhythmic
interplay where the flute’s high, crystalline phrases intertwined with
agile tabla bols in a vibrant, almost playful conversation. As the
tempo slowly ascended from contemplative to spirited, the audience
responded with palpable appreciation - a testament to the mastery and
chemistry of both musicians.

In a deeply emotional moment, Shri Rehman Naushad shared a
cherished memory from family history: a young Naushad, merely thirteen, walking
with his maternal uncle to the “Urs” of “Haji Waris Ali Shah” in Barabanki,
Uttar Pradesh. Amidst the spiritual fervour, a lone flautist played a melody
gentle yet unforgettable. Young Naushad first listened with curiosity, then was
entranced, and then finally changed forever. It was in that moment that Rehman
Naushad reflected that the seed of a future music maestro was planted.

Legendary Music Composer Shri Uttam Singh shared a warm
tribute to Rakesh Chaurasia, noting how his tone, artistry, and musical
brilliance carry forward the grace of his uncle, the legendary Pandit
Hariprasad Chaurasia. With fondness, he recalled having both maestros perform
for him over the years – an association he cherishes deeply.

Esteemed Music Composer-Producer, son of Uttam Singh, Shri
Gurmeet Singh, added his reflections, recalling that Rakesh had performed
plenty of solos in his compositions since 1999. What began as a collaboration
evolved into a bond he described as a family friend. He noted that Rakesh’s
artistry has only grown richer with time and stands today at an exceptional
zenith.

As the final note dissolved into stillness, the
audience held a reflective silence - the kind that lingers only
when music touches something beyond the senses. It was not just a
performance, it was an experience that reaffirmed Mumbai’s connection to
classical tradition and the enduring transformative power of live music.

In an era dominated by fast-changing trends and
technology-driven consumption, Naushad Academy continues to serve as a
custodian of heritage, holding its flame steadfastly even in the winds of
modernity.

Through consistent events and artist collaborations, the
Academy has become a sanctuary for lovers of Hindustani classical music. This
unwavering commitment is made possible by the dedication of its trustees, who
carry forward the vision with sincerity and perseverance.

The
event was presented under the guidance and expertise of the

Academy’s permanent trustees:

Shri Rehman Naushad –
     President
Shri Uttam Singh –
     Secretary
Shri Gurmeet Singh –
     Treasurer
Smt Shehnaaz Parveen
     Mutiur Rehman – Trustee
Smt Jasvinder Kaur –
     Trustee
Smt Umaraah Mutiur
     Rehman – Trustee

The Academy acknowledges with gratitude the
contributions of:

Event Organiser – Ms
     Parmeet Kaur

     Allan Vaz
Photography & Videography
     – Nabh Kumar Raju, along with his NKR Film School students and event crew
